Prerequisites
In general, all students of Business Administration (B.Sc.), Economics (B.A., M.Sc.), Business Administration (M.Sc.) and Econometrics Master (M.Sc.) can write their final thesis (Bachelor's thesis / Master's thesis) with us. In some cases, students from other degree programs are also considered (industrial engineering, teaching degree, etc.).
The prerequisite is that you have attended and successfully passed at least one of our courses.
Participation in our seminar is recommended for Master's students. This seminar offers you the opportunity to practise writing an academic paper and to gain important initial insights into your own performance level, strengths and weaknesses.
Subject areas
We supervise theses in all subject areas that are also covered in our courses. In particular:
- Modeling and forecasting on energy markets
- Empirical methods and applications in the environmental and energy industry
- Data science (statistics / econometrics / machine learning) for energy, environmental and economic sciences
- Analysis of environmental economic instruments (e.g. certificate trading)
- Portfolio Management (Statistical Theory and Applications)
- Operations Management in Energy Markets (Storage Management, Decision Making and Support, Predictive Maintenance)
Procedure
We always offer you the opportunity to start your thesis at our department at the beginning of the semester. Please register by:
15.03. (for a start in the summer semester)
15.09. (for a start in the winter semester)
with an up to date transcript of records by e-mail to:ThesisUEE (at) wiwinf.uni-due.de. We will then send you a short confirmation of receipt. We will send out invitations to the preliminary meeting by the end of March or September.
In the first week of lectures (date to follow) we will then offer an information event to clarify all formal questions. We will then determine the topic individually and officially register your thesis.
